Mission / Purpose of the Role:

To provide technical expertise, leadership, and guidance in fire prevention, protection, and emergency preparedness across Michelin sites in Asia. The Fire Expert ensures compliance with global and local standards, develops fire safety strategies, and supports sites in reducing fire risks through risk assessment, prevention measures, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Fire Risk Assessment & Prevention

  • Conduct and validate fire risk assessments (including EBIOS methodology when applicable).
  • Define and promote best practices in fire prevention, particularly for critical equipment (e.g., electrical systems, solar panels, storage areas, chemical use).
  • Support sites in eliminating or mitigating high-level fire risks.

2. Technical Expertise & Guidance

  • Serve as the reference for fire-related technical issues in Asia.
  • Advise sites on fire domain design, standards (local regulation, Michelin’s requirement and NFPA), and preventive maintenance requirements.
  • Provide Fire requirement to new projects (e.g., solar roof, extension projects) to ensure fire compliance.

3. Training & Competency Development

  • Develop training materials and deliver training to site fire engineers, emergency response teams, and leadership on fire prevention & protection.
  • Strengthen competencies of site-level fire engineers regarding fire requirements.

4. Emergency Preparedness & Response

  • Define response requirements for fire emergencies at each site.
  • Ensure sites have effective fire emergency plans, drills, and properly trained ERTs (Emergency Response Teams).
  • Support alignment with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 50001 and SMEP (EP Management System) requirements.

5. Audit & Compliance

  • Support internal (3 SM audit) and external audits (with Insurance) on fire.
  • Monitor compliance with Michelin Group standards and local regulations in all Asia sites.
  • Recommend corrective and preventive actions where gaps are identified.

6. Collaboration & Networking

  • Act as a liaison between Asia sites, DCAPP/Group Fire experts, Tech (Maintenance) and Engineering team and local authorities on fire-related matters.
  • Share lessons learned, incidents, and best practices across Asia and lead Asia Fire network meeting
  • Participate in RGEPs (Regional EP network) to ensure alignment and continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Safety Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience in fire safety/prevention in industrial or manufacturing environments.
  • Certifications NFPA Fire, or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Experience in project review, audits, and regulatory compliance.
  • Fluency in English
